Week in Review: Idol’s Big Overhaul, a Jersey Bust, Lindsay’s Countdown to Freedom
Jul 31st
Ellen DeGeneres is no longer the toast of American Idol but variety was still the spice of life this past week as we ricocheted from jail to Italy to Jersey and back, just in time for the…

Microsoft kills the KIN, refuses to sell it in Europe
Jun 30th

Apparently Microsoft has come to the realization that, much like the hipsters it was targeting with the device, no one wants to be caught dead with a KIN. Microsoft has confirmed that the two devices are toast. Here is what their PR people said.
We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”
Good riddance, we say.

It hailed, it poured, the albergue was full… — El Burgo Ranero, Castille and León, Spain

El Burgo Ranero, Castille and León, Spain
so we had to book into the Hostal…real beds, bath, endless hot water, real towels etc, real price!
Christine had just finished a long email to family when the upstaire computer died. She is mighty disappointed. I´ve come downstairs to see if I could find it in cyberspace, but with no success.
There was the opportunity for me to try to download photos (again) upstairs, but down here it is just the keyboard and screen, sorry.
Forgot to tell you about the Hobbit houses in the hills today, all with different porch roof structures and chimneys in the hillside, one even with an antenna!
Michael, belated, but Happy Birthday wishes.
Theodora, toast is not a Spanish thing. The closest one gets is Melba toast. Next albergue with a kitchen we will buy bread and cook it somehow as Bocadillos have worn out their welcome. we have had jam (mermelada) twice in three weeks.
We´re over half way there; simply amazing. equally amazing is the fact I haven´t heard any music except for pop songs in the bars.
Still have my cold and the smoke downstairs is upsetting my nose.
Should be interesting tomorrow if we are confronted by the jet black sky of late afternoon today, and the thunder, and the lightening. It certainly increased our pace like our first encounter with an indecent exposure. We´re up to number 3 of them…now with a lack lustre reception. ho hum
We´re promoting Tasmania and should see some visitors in the future.

Sakae — Nagoya, Chubu, Japan

Nagoya, Chubu, Japan

MSI Toast PC catches our eye, and that’s all she wrote
Mar 5th
Who knows what’s actually housed in the device, but judging by the accompanying placard, MSI is playing the aesthetic card with this one. Designed as both a PC and a decoration for the home, it’s certainly pleasing on the eye. And like the sign says, “don’t try to put in toast” — cute, but we’d rather that line had a commitment to releasing this sucker. Or a price range. Or some hint as specs. Or anything tangible, really.
