Nintendo dropping DSi and DSI XL prices on September 12
Aug 30th
Nintendo is slashing the DSi to $149.99 and the DSi XL to $169.99 (that’s down $20 apiece) on September 12 in North America, after dropping prices in the UK and Japan in June. We still don’t know what the 3DS will be going for or when it will land, that announcement is still slated for the end of this month, but we’re sure at this price (or any) Nintendo will manage to sell a good many million of the current crop between now and then. PR is after the break.

Sam Stein e i suoi progetti per il World Series of Poker
May 14th
Leggi l’originale Sam Stein e i suoi progetti per il World Series of Poker scritto su Poker Mondiale.com

HTC Countersues Apple, Claims Apple Is Infringing On Five Patents
May 13th
HTC has just announced that it is suing Apple for violating five of its patents, and is asking the US International Trade Commission to “halt the importation and sale of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod in the United States”. The move comes in response to a suit Apple filed against HTC in March that listed over 20 patents HTC is allegedly violating with its Android devices.
From HTC’s press release:
Seattle – May 12, 2010 – HTC Corporation today took legal action against Apple Inc., filing a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) to halt the importation and sale of the iPhone, iPad and iPod in the United States.
“As the innovator of the original Windows Mobile PocketPC Phone Edition in 2002 and the first Android smartphone in 2008, HTC believes the industry should be driven by healthy competition and innovation that offer consumers the best, most accessible mobile experiences possible,” said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of North America, HTC Corporation. “We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC phones.”
We’re still gathering more details on the suit. Apple’s suit against HTC is all about Android — HTC makes some of OS’s most popular handsets, including the Droid Incredible and the Nexus One. Obviously Google makes Android, but rather than assault the search giant head-on, Apple is looking to scare away other device manufacturers from using the free Android OS. In response, Google told us that it would be working to “stand behind” its partners — in other words, it’s going to help HTC defend against Apple’s attack.
We should point out that HTC recently forged an agreement with Microsoft that “provides broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for HTC’s mobile phones running the Android mobile platform”. We’re looking to see if that agreement is playing into this.
This isn’t the only legal battle Apple will be waging — last week Nokia slapped Apple with another lawsuit, and earlier today we reported on a small company called SoftView that is also suing Apple over some display technology.
Also see this HTC marketing video, uploaded to YouTube yesterday, which clearly is meant to show that HTC is an innovator in the mobile space:

Microsoft Plans WorldWide Launch Of Project Natal In October
May 11th
In an interview with GamertagRadio, Microsoft Saudi marketing manager Syed Bilal Tariq reportedly spilled the beans on the launch date (well, month) of Project Natal, the Redmond company’s motion-sensing camera for the Xbox 360.
Not only did Tariq say that Project Natal would be hitting the market in October 2010, well in time for the holiday season, but he apparently also revealed that the launch would be global, or simultaneously in North-America and the EMEA region at the very least.

Mobile Marketing Firm Adenyo Acquires MoVoxx
May 11th
Mobile marketing firm Adenyo has acquired MoVoxx, a US-based mobile advertising company that counts multiple Fortune 500 companies as clients and reaches millions of users on both smartphones and more basic ‘feature phones’. MoVoxx was founded in 2006 and had previously raised money from Greycroft Partners, Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital and BV Capital. Terms of the deal aren’t being disclosed.
MoVoxx CEO Alec Andronikov says that the company has grown to reach 40 million unique users though in-app display ads as well as SMS, which can reach a much broader array of devices. The company recently launched a new GeoSense platform that sends location-based ads to users, even on devices that don’t come equipped with GPS.
Adenyo offers a SaaS mobile ad platform that serves over 1 billion ad impressions a month. It includes an analytics engine to determine which ads to serve to which users, as well as a system to handle payments and coupons. Adenyo CEO Tyler Nelson says that the company has built up a strong presence in the European market as well as Canada, but that “feature phones” in the United States are around 3-4 years behind, and that Adenyo hasn’t yet addressed them. MoVoxx already has a large base of users on these feature phones, and will give Adenyo a strong foothold in the United States. This, Nelson says, is important as clients look to launch global campaigns across North America and Europe.
Canada-based Adenyo recently raised $30 million in funding, and it sounds like it has more acquisitions in the pipeline.
