Robe, South Australia, Australia

OK, so I’ve been road tripping in the southern part of Australia for the past week and every time there was a computer at the hostel I would get on line and type up a new post. Unfortunately, the Internet connection in those parts is a bit spotty so none of them ever actually made it up, so I will try again.

While in Adelaide we (Joleen, Liz, Cazz, Willow, Sarah, and myself) went to a 4 day music festival with the theme of “Music From Around the World.” This had to have been the cleanest festival I have ever attended. First it is no waste. All the drinking and eating utensils were combustible. The toilets were amazing. There must have been half a million people there and the toilets were always clean. Awesome! The bad part of the whole thing is that it rained the entire weekend. In fact it has rained almost every day. People this is the driest state in the driest continent in the world and it has been raining for a week. The weird part is that even though I didn’t bring an umbrella or raincoat or poncho…I was the only dry person around. Hmmm go figure.

On Sunday, Sarah and I were tired of dodging the rain and listening to music so we decided to explore the city…Its small; however, the fringe festival was going on at the same time so there were lots of street performances to watch. When the rain came we ducked into a free museum where in the back corner I found a couple of William Black sketching and a “Lady of Shallot” drawing…it was an excellent find.

We decided to stop by a bar and have a couple of beers because my feet needed one. (right mama). On the way we started talking to a few locals when this guy walks up to me and starts staring at my chest. He must have stood there for 3 minutes before he says, “Why your not a bloke at all are ya?” Why no sir I’m not…how perceptive of you.

On Monday we drove around the country side doing a wine tasting tour. The wine here is good, especially the Shiraz.

Tuesday we Left Adelaide for Melbourne. On our way to Robe we stopped at salt lake. Holy Cow. I’ve never seen a lake so salty that you can walk out on the salt bank as if it were an ice embankment in the winter.

Love,

Chris
