Bangkok, TH.40, Thailand

Patpong is known as the sleazy side of Bangkok but has an amazing night market which i recommend anyone to visit, also just round the corner is Jim Thompson Thai Silk – it is a grand 2 storey building with everything and anything you can think of made from silk – its by no means cheap but the quality is superb.
The market themselves are a haven for counterfiet goods, its quite cheap and you can barter them down even more – one tip is to carry lots of small denomination notes with you, you cant really barter them down to 300 from 500 and give them a 1000 note to change.
As expected in that area you will get approached every 5m asking if you want to see Patpong Ping Pong, unless you do you just need to say no and keep on walking and they dont really harass you.
There are plenty of bars, some normal some gogo/hostess bars. Granted the gogo bars are the cheaper ones to drink at (50Baht compared to 150+ at others) but they are just dark and have what looks like very young girls standing next to poles – and stand is all they do, its not as if they do a good performance on the pole they just stand and wiggle a bit!!

We tried to be a bit braver and try something to eat from the street vendors, although took the easy way out and had fresh pineapple and banana and choclates pancake – yum yum!
We did see one street vendor selling scorpions / grubs / crickets / cockroaches and locusts deep fried… not for us tho!

We also saw a elephant parade and a marching band with mounted police in aid of the Haiti disaster, asking all the tourists to give to the cause.
